Over the years Clean Shield have had people asking if we provided a Chimney Sweep service, and with the gaining popularity of wood-burners these enquiries have only got more and more frequent, so when our
MD Kathy Parker recently bumped into fellow Gliding enthusiasts John & Jacqui Huband (in the club bar, not in the air!) and heard about their new venture she listened intently.
John, who is an engineer by trade, decided to take the plunge and leave his job at Swindon based, Honda and pursue a career that would also fit in with his love of all things “outdoors”.
With the backing of his wife Jacqui, John chose to become a Chimney Sweep and as a man who always strives do things the right way he undertook his training with the “Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps”.
Now well into their 2nd year of trading John & Jacqui, (who although she looks after the admin is not afraid to muck in and get her hands dirty whenever she can) are really enjoying their new life and have swept the flues & chimneys in private properties, commercial properties, industrial units and even narrow boats.
They recently added to their bow by offering a range of other services including, the supply and delivery of coal, logs and kindling as well as Bird Nest removal, Cowl and Flue maintenance & repairs, plus the installation of co2 & smoke alarms to name but a few.
